Design Studio

Shape a genuine parametric 3D car. Every adjustment updates the same engineering model used by the wind tunnel and race simulation.

Materials Lab

Balance weight, cost, structure and rolling resistance. Material choices carry through to the actual vehicle, testing and scrutineering.

DESIGN / MATERIAL SCIENCE

Component Materials ILLUSTRATED SPECIMENS

Compare material structure, density and component cost. Each specimen illustration depicts a recognisable material form; numerical properties come from Pit Lane’s original model.

Real teams add ballast to reach minimum mass: placed low for stability.

Simulation Suite

Three fully modelled 3D testing environments: visualise airflow, stress-test a CO₂ launch and compare wheel friction.

Scrutineering Bay

Check the vehicle against the active class regulations before race day. Failures are actionable design feedback, not just red labels.

Engineering Logbook

Capture every iteration and test result, explain your decisions and export an evidence-based engineering portfolio.

Engineer's Logbook

WhenCarActivityDataEngineer's note
Beyond this tool: a STEM Racing portfolio is judged on more than lap time. Before submission, make sure you can also cover —
  • Engineering: the design-iteration story this logbook records: what you changed, what you tested, and why.
  • Enterprise & marketing: team identity, sponsorship, costing and branding (your livery is a start).
  • Verbal presentation & pit display: being able to explain the trade-offs behind your final car to judges.

Engineering Report

Compare your design with the kit baseline, check compliance, and identify data-driven improvements using the original simulation.

Regulatory Compliance CHECKING

Checks use the class and staff-adjusted limits set in your garage. Verify against the official rules before manufacturing.

Design Development Priorities

Actions are based on actual failed checks and simulated alternatives that do not introduce new compliance failures. Results require physical validation.

Current Design vs Kit Baseline

Same simulated environment and race model for both cars. Time differences exclude driver reaction.

Engineer’s Evidence

After refining your car, record each wind-tunnel run, launch test and race in the Logbook to demonstrate iterative improvement.

Reports can be printed to PDF or saved as a standalone HTML document, including the technical drawing and modelled values.
