Design a perfume bottle and its box.

Work like a product designer. Set the dimensions of the bottle, check how much it holds, then build the carton around it. Every number is in millimetres, just like a real CAD model.

Starting points

3D model

Drag empty space to turn the view, right drag to pan, scroll or pinch to zoom. Click a shape to select it, then drag it, lift it with the yellow circle or resize it with the yellow square. Shift click adds to a selection.

A hole cuts away the bottle, the cap and any loose solid shapes it touches. Select shapes and press Group to merge them into one solid: holes in a group cut only that group. One selected shape lines up with the bottle, several line up with each other. All sizes are millimetres, and the STL download merges everything into one solid.

    Carton

    Carton net (straight tuck end)

Solid lines are cuts. Dashed lines are folds. The glue tab goes inside the last panel. The net is sized from your bottle plus the clearance, so it changes when you change the bottle.

    Design challenge

    1. Decide who the perfume is for and what it should feel like. Write it down below before you start.
    2. Make the bottle hold a sensible size: 30, 50 or 100 ml. The design check tells you how close you are.
    3. Make sure it will not tip over and that the cap clearly fits the neck.
    4. Build a carton with a clear brand, strong text contrast and the legal information on the back.
    5. Download your drawings and the 3D model so you can rebuild or improve it in school CAD software.

STL files are in millimetres and open in Tinkercad, Fusion, Onshape and most slicers. The CSV lists the radius at each height, so you can redraw the profile and revolve it yourself.
